Bamboo (take) is used in numerous ways in Japanese culture, including in bondage.  

Ways bamboo is used:

Music:  flutes, drums

Tea Ceremony:  ladles, chopsticks

Decor:   Window blinds, tatami mats, fences, flower arranging, baskets, placemats

Martial Arts:  bows, arrows, and spears

Tea Ceremony:  chasen (bamboo brush),  ladles, spoons, whisks, vases, incense containers, and servering containers
