Basic Knots - Musubime

There are basically two knots one needs to know.

The Bowline and the Square or Reef Knot .

The Bowline will not slip and is a suitable for single limb bondage and suspension applications.

The British Boy Scouts have a nice little animated knot-tying website with many knots illustrated. You might want to check it out.

You don't need to know alot of knots to do safe and effective rope bondage. There are really only two that you need to learn, the Square Knot and the Bowline.

Square Knot

"honmusubi"

This Knot can be used for just about anything in tying off the ends.  Don't confuse it with a "granny knot", which will slip.

If your captive likes to struggle, accidentally using a granny knot could end up in serious injury.  For example if you captive is standing an pulling against the ropes, a sudden release of a granny knot could put you loved one in a nasy fall.  So learn the Square Knot well... you can use it to tie off just about everything.
