There are many in the D/s 'lifestyle' that consider an M/s relationship can
only exist in the realms of fantasy. From my own experiences and having listened
to my sister slaves M/s exists for real, a true lifestyle that is followed
each and everyday of one's life.
M/s is a real life way of living and being - yes it may be put down to the
mindset of the two people involved, but the lifestyle is for real and the
lifestyle is lived all over the world. There is always the hierarchy i.e.
The Master and there is always the junior i.e. the slave. I belong to several
groups on the net and it amazes me on the thoughts of some people about slavery,
their closed mindedness that it cannot exist, or that slavery somehow is
all about non consensual cruelty, we have to realise that perhaps the only
slavery that is forced is within the Islamic world, but in the US and Europe
it is out of choice on the whole that men and women choose to go into slavery.
The European slave is very different to the slaves of the US or of the Islamic
states. The main type of methodology used for training a European slave is
in the Roman methods - Roman slavery was started some 3,000 years ago and
is the oldest type of slavery. Islamic slavery has been around for about
1500 years and Gorean slavery has only been around since the 1950's. So in
the history of slavery Gor is the youngest and borne from novels of which
an attempt has been made to transpose the philosophies of a fictitious planet
and its peoples to Mother Earth.
Out of all three types of slaves the European slave is very much revered
by their Owner/Master, a Master cannot be a Master without a slave and a
slave cannot be a slave without a Master. The European slave keeps her
personality, her integrity, has freedom of thought, and, within her boundaries
freedom of speech. She is not treated as an animal, she is neither treated
as a doormat, she is treated as a human being that has earned the respect
of her Master as He in turn has earned her utmost devotion, respect and her
protection of Him. Masters and slaves are interchangeable...meaning that
the general core knowledge and methodology is quintessentially identical,
the only change being the personality. There are a minority of Masters that
prefer to treat their slaves as animals, keep them caged, keep them on their
knees at all times, do not allow freedom of thought or speech, but it has
to be understood that the slave surrendered to the Master and knows these
things beforehand. So although it may seem like an abominable way to live,
the slave is happy to be what her Master wants her to be, as her soul reason
for living is to please her Master. There are other Masters that indoctrinate
their slaves to such a degree that they become doormats whom cannot think
for themselves, have no initiative, they have become brainless and can only
respond to key words, in other words specific commands and once again from
the outset it is the choice of that slave to accept or not before committing
to that particular Master. The majority of the European Masters and slaves
is almost always lived absolutely behind closed doors. It is a very tight
knit society almost like a Closed Order. In general ,Masters and slaves are
known by most in the lifestyle, names and reputation travel along the network
of M/s and any 'wannabes' are very quickly sought out and removed from this
closed community.
It is often said that true slavery cannot be lived in this modern society,
as a 24/7 slave myself I can say without a shadow of a doubt and in all truth
and honesty that 24/7 M/s can be lived within modern society. The laws of
the land are still adhered to, the laws behind closed doors are different,
Behind closed doors the rules appertain to the contract that is signed at
the beginning when a Master accepts the slave. She is always in service to
her Master whether in private or in public - in public it is toned down so
it is not obvious to 'normal' society, but the hierarchy and junior position
are always maintained.
In the US, D/s as it is in Europe is a bit of an unknown quantity. From my
research D/s in the US is very often referred to as M/s which really is not
possible to do. To try and mix the D/s and M/s only creates confusion to
not only the sub/slave, but I suspect to Doms and Masters also. So that I
don't repeat myself differences between D/s and M/s are very clear, see

Many, no...all my friends are in a D/s relationship none are 24/7 and having
spoken with a lot of them, their lives are always vanilla in every aspect
in every way shape and form, they have D/s days or evenings and attend fet
clubs/parties when there are any happening. European D/s is and always has
been seen as just play...bedroom games extended into the public arena but
the end result always being the same, sex at the end of play, nothing about
D/s can be construed as a 24/7 lifestyle. There are a few, very few in D/s
that live in a 24/7 lifestyle not realising that they in actual fact have
moved into the realms of Master/slave, but because of the word 'slave' having
bad connotations due to history, they will not or cannot admit to themselves
or others that they actually are in an M/s lifestyle.
The majority of the M/s scene in the US is Gorean, and whilst I have no problems
in everyone living whatever lifestyle they choose, I do have problems with
the concept of Gor. Within Gor itself there does seem to be one or two breakaway
groups that seem to be erring more to the European M/s and D/s - but I suspect
these groups are quite insignificant and will never really cause any problems
for those that follow Gor philosophies to the letter. Finding writings about
Gor and the lifestyle is easy, there is an abundance of information and
misinformation, but yet try to find writings about M/s in its entirety and
all you get is D/s. There are no specific sites about M/s, it's as if M/s
does not exist and yet it is a flourishing lifestyle in Europe albeit the
majority of Masters and slaves stay behind closed doors and only move within
the M/s community.
