A munch is a get together for socializing in a non-threatening atmosphere, usually a public setting. It gives the attendees a chance to meet and greet others in the scene, to renew or begin friendships, to hear about things happening locally, to discuss toy options, etc. Munches are held in open public places like mall food courts, restaurants, etc. It serves a couple of purposes being so out in the open....it gives the real newbie a chance to go someplace "safe" and meet someone or they can meet other folks who like the same thing they do!  See>>>  Janus - History of Munches

BDSM is guided by the motto...  Safe, Sane, and Consensual.  To wear fetish dress in a public retaurant with families, children etc, is to non consensually involve others in your kinks, and is not therefore BDSM.

NOTE:  Ocassionally a munch sponsor will secure a private room/ facility and it may be appropriate to wear fetish on that occassion.
