The Submissive's Toybag

Ok we all know about those toybags the Dominant's wheel into the clubs or in some cases the submissives pull in behind them. You've seen those big suitcases on wheels, converted golf bags and even coffins on wheels. Inside are an assortment of whips and cuffs and rope and floggers and canes, oh my!  Perhaps thousands of dollars of toys from the finest crafters are hidden within these bags. Everything a Dominant needs to put painful-pleasure on the the faces of the submissives and masochist; and to indeed put on an impressive show for the voyeurs among us.

Now how about the submissive's toybag? Huh? was the general response received recently in the well known FlaDomSub AOL chatroom.  No one had heard of or even thought of such.

Shevah has given a lot of thought in this area and we have talked it over and here are some things that perhaps you should consider in your submissive's toy bag.  It is important to have these things with you, but also to instruct your Dominant where they are and any special instructions.  Yes, you need to take your Dominant to school concerning any special needs you may have. Shevah has a deathly allergy to peanuts, for which she carries an "Epi-pen" and has given me very precise instructions on its use should she need it.

Hopefully you have already filled out a scene negotiations / limit checklist or had an extensive conversation about personal health and safety issues. If not go there and fill one out:

Shevah breaks down suggested items into two bags that she carries with her. Tatu has added a third category.

1) Safety Bag

  • *Epi-Pen (since shevah is deathly allergic to peanuts)
  • Chewable children's Benadryl (good for any type of allergic reaction)
  • An inhaler (used for any type of allergy reactions)
  • A small first aid kit for small cuts including band-aids and antibiotic ointment
  • EMT shears that can cut through rope and leather that has a curved blunt tip
  • A knife
  • Vet wrap for wrists/ankles (used when working with rope)
  • Tylenol (for those dang headaches that creep up)
  • Sudafed (for stuffy sinus problems)
  • Reli-On glucose tablets (for low blood sugar, dissolves in the mouth)
  • Bottle of water
  • Hand wipes
  • Antiseptic solution (Not all Dungeons are equipped with DM and cleaning supplies)
  • Condoms
  • Flashlight
  • Index card with contact information in case of any emergencies.
  • Kinky business cards (never know who you might want to keep in touch with or you may want to give one to the DM)

2) Aftercare bag contains:

  • A blanket (many subs get chilled after a scene)
  • Socks or Slippers
  • Bottle of water
  • Blindfold or scarf (subs generally don't like staring up to bright club lighting after a scene)
  • A towel
  • Chocolate candy (sugar, yummy)
  • Long sleeve t-shirt or sweat shirt (for those chills)
  • Sometimes a change of clothes.

Here is a 3rd category Tatu strongly suggests that the submissive carry for play. Again the submissive must instruct the Dominant about certain items in this list in their use.

3) Toys

Submissives should always bring their own intimate toys. Never let a Dom use his own toys around your intimate parts. You have no idea who he last used them on, if they have been cleaned, or how safe he has been with lubricant containers. This is especially important if you are going to be playing with one of those dominant's that plays with a lot of people, even 2 or more in a night at the club. If you are, you will probably want to make sure s/he is going to be using some different toys on you than s/he did the submissive s/he just finished with.

In general, STD's (Sexually Transmitted Diseases) require 72 hours in open air to kill any diseases. So those whips, floggers, knives, crops, etc, that were just used on someone else just before you has the potential to spread infections.

So as for intimate toys, things that will come in contact with the genital area, you should bring your own:

  • Vibrators (don't forget the spare batteries)
  • Dildoes
  • Any clips / clamps , clothespins, etc that are to be used around the genital area (bring your own)
  • Lubricants - Liquid Silk or K-Y
  • Condoms - in case someone get's lucky
  • Latex gloves (in case he didn't bring any and you really want that fisting scene)
  • Any thing that is to come in contact with the genital area
